Japan's Children

Distress behind the smiles

Despite the smiling faces of most children in Japan, Experts say they are concerned about the effects the disaster may have on them. Save the Children estimates that at least 100,000 children have been affected by the disasters. Children and their families are staying in over 2,500 evacuation centers, some of which have no electricity or running water. Save the Children has set up multiple child-friendly spaces in evacuation centers. Child-friendly spaces provide children with an opportunity to play with other children while freeing up parent to work on recovery. By making a small donation to Save the Children
